Chronicles from the German Occupation

One of the most significant periods of Guernsey's modern history was the occupation by Nazi Germany during World War II, between June 1940 and May 1945. It has left a lasting legacy and shaped the islands of the Bailiwick into what they are today - along with its residents.
We can still witness today the extent of the fortifications built during the war. Let me share with you stories of this difficult time: tales of hardship, determination, courage and hope, as well as the overwhelming emotions recalled by those who regained their freedom on the day of the Liberation.
